Neighborhood Action Plan

Are you one the many who think DWI isn't a problem in your neighborhood? If so, think again.

If you live in Bernalillo County, you can download a localized DWI Offender Residency Map which shows the number of people arrested for DWI in your neighborhood during 2004. In addition, neighborhood associations in Bernalillo County can also download a list of alcohol retailers in their area, as well as a list of neighborhood businesses in industries considered at high-risk for on- and off-the-job alcohol/drug use.

No matter what county you live in, the DWI Resource Center has developed a new tool to help all citizens reduce DWI death and injury in your local neighborhood. The new "Neighborhood Action Plan: A Citizen's Guide To Fighting DWI" will help you evaluate the extent of the alcohol/DWI problem in your neighborhood and provides a complete set of tools to you reduce DWI locally. The complete guide can be downloaded online, or you may call (505) 881-1084 for a hardcopy.

The guide contains information to help local communities:

  • Track DWI info, gather data and create indicator reports
  • Participate in DWI court monitoring
  • Affect public policy on underage drinking
  • Start a designated driver program in your local neighborhood
  • Find alternative transportation to and from alcohol establishments
  • Contact and lobby elected officials
  • Help alochol establishments become responsible retailers
  • Assist local businesses in establishing drug-free workplace programs
