The NM Victims’ Rights Project strives to raise awareness of victims’ rights by providing this website with helpful links and resources.

• Know Your Rights

  The New Mexico Victims of Crime Act entitles all victims of crime to certain legal and financial rights. Read an overview of your rights in the criminal justice system.

• Resources by NM Judicial Districts

  If you or someone you know has been a victim of crime, help is available in your local area. Find out what services are available!

• Asserting Your Rights in Court

The Center has prepared a questionnaire and the information needed to file your own ‘pro se’ (representing yourself) form for entry of appearance in New Mexico courts (generally in District Court).

• Victim Law Database

  VictimLaw is a searchable database of victims’ rights legal provisions including federal, state, and territorial statutes, tribal laws, state constitutional amendments, court rules, administrative code provisions, and summaries of related court decisions and attorney general opinions.

• NM Constitution & Laws

  The NM Constitution was amended in 1992 to protect the rights of crime victims. Read the law and demand your rights!

• Victim Reparation

  The New Mexico Crime Victims Reparation Commission (CVRC) provides financial assistance to victims of violent crime. If you have incurred expenses related to a crime committed against you, you may be entitled to financial reparation.
